This classic Christmas show tells the story of a man’s journey to find meaning in his life by doing the right thing. The play takes place on Christmas Eve, 1945, but utilizes a series of flashbacks to tell George Bailey’s story. This play is perfect for the actor who wants to be a part of the production experience but doesn’t have time to devote to learning lots of lines or attending all rehearsals, as there are several roles that have few lines and few scenes, but whose characters are integral to the plot and to the entire production. Realistic costumes from 1945 add to the enjoyment of watching George progress from a young man to a family man to a responsible business man in the community. He is challenged by his father’s death, his uncle’s poor decision, the economy, the war and by a local businessman, Mr. Potter, whose sole mission is to own the entire town and who is ruthless in his tactics.
