Frank is a teacher whose disillusioned outlook on life drives him to drink and bury himself in his books. Rita, a hairdresser and hungry for education, becomes Frank’s private student in a comedy that the London Times called “painfully funny and passionately serious.” This warmly written story is revitalizing.
